Invitation card: On the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the two French Air Force heavy bomber squadrons returning to France, the City of York, the Dean and Chapter of York Minster, Trustees of the Allied Air Forces Memorial and l'Association des Groupes Lourds request the honour of your company at the inauguration of the memorial for 346 Guyenne & 347 Tunisie French Air Force squadrons of Royal Air Force Bomber Command at York Minster on Thursday 20th October 2011 at 11am.

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster flies over York Minster
Le 20 octobre 2011, un mémorial unique en son genre sera inauguré pour commémorer le souvenir des groupes français de bombardiers lourds intégrés dans le Bomber Command de la R.A.F., dont 216 aviateurs périrent au combat. York Minster est le deuxième cathédrale d’Angleterre et la plus importante cathédrale médiévale de l’Europe du Nord. Cet évènement aura une portée internationale considérable sachant qu’il s’agira du premier mémorial de guerre français dans une cathédrale anglaise. Le moment pourra paraître pertinent et dans la lignée des récents accords franco-britanniques de coopération militaire. En présence du Général Paloméros, l’Air Marshal Sir Stephen Dalton, le secrétaire d’état à la stratégie pour la sécurité internationale, Gérald Howarth et l’ambassadeur de France à Londres, Bernard Emié.
