You are cordially invited to this year’s talk. It is the last of three talks on the Second World War as it affected this part of France and describes the adventures of three British servicemen who found themselves having to evade Hitler’s clutches.
You will be asked at the door for a donation of 10 euros, which will go to the Bordeaux and SW France Branch of The Royal British Legion. That will entitle you to a seat in the Espace Culturel, Eymet for the talk, and to a glass of wine afterwards. There will also be an opportunity to buy two illustrated booklets based on Colonel David’s talks, one covering the two talks on the Hundred Years War in Aquitaine and one covering three talks, including this one, on the Second World War in SW France. Printing costs have been defrayed by our generous sponsors, Blevins Franks Financial Management, and the booklets will cost 10 euros each, or 15 for both. Proceeds go to The Royal British Legion. Poppies and other RBL items will also be available.
Please feel free to pass this invitation on to friends and family whom you think might be interested. It would, as usual, be helpful if you could let us know by email to thornycroftd@gmail.com if you are planning to come, with an indication of numbers, so that we can get the administrative arrangements right.
We look forward to seeing you at the Espace Culturel, Eymet at 1100 on Saturday 1 November 2025. Doors will open at 1030.
